Born in Lima, Peru in 1939. He studied architecture at the National University of Engineering. He attended postgraduate studies in Europe (1963-1966), first in London and then in Paris, and finally, in 1967, he began his academic career as a professor first, at the National University of Engineering, and then at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
Since 1967 he has worked in Peru and other countries as an advocate and critic of architecture, in Peru, in the newspaper El Comercio (1992-1996), columnist for the newspaper La República, contributor to the daily EL PAIS in Spain as well as founder and director of the Journal of Architecture, Design and Construction ARKINKA in Peru. Since 1966 to date, he is has been the main partner of the architectural firm COOPER GRAÑA NICOLlNI ARCHITECTS (now CGGMS architects), with more than 450 projects so far.
